Halswell House Guide to Civil Partnership Etiquette
Civil Partnership etiquette is still in a state of flux. There are no hard and fast rules saying what has to be or not be! You've lived your life in a parallel universe so far so why ape the straight community and its conventions now? Go where the fancy takes you!
However, a few guidelines can be usefully borrowed from our straight cousins and when you stop to think about it they make sense.
- Decide who is responsible for what and make sure everybody knows their roles.
- Agree who comes and in what capacity - Divas and Queens should be politely restrained...this is your big day not theirs... they have the other 364 at their disposal.
- Tacky or Subtle... Quiet or Rowdy? Decide together. Remember a single picture is worth a thousand words and blackmail is such an ugly word.
- So what does your outfit say about you...or what would you like it to say? Remember, white is a very trying colour without a halo.
- Make sure whoever decides on the flowers is not colour-deficient. The images of this celebration should live with you for ever. Think on!
And the rest? Well make it up as you go along and have a fab time. As a gay owned and run venue, Halswell could be perfect for your celebration. We appreciate and understand your wishes better than you might realize. Give us a call on 0845 204 1066 or request a brochure.
